'The
directors know they would be daft to replace him at a stage where he is
so popular. It's almost certain he will do one more outing as Bond.'
The
source went on to claim that the actor - who's been consistently
negative in conversations about his future as Bond - has made it 'quite
clear' he will be available for at least the next three years.
Promotion: The star has reportedly assured bosses that he can be available for the next project
Best Bond: They have been consistently
impressed with his efforts and he remains one of the most popular for
his incarnation of the role
A spokesperson for Daniel Craig has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.
The
claims come just days after the Spectre cast put on a less than
lacklustre appearance in New York during their tour for the 2015
release, which made an impressive £41.3million on its launch in the UK
last month.
The
24th film in the franchise banked over £41 million in the UK in its
first seven days of release, eclipsing Skyfall's £20.1 million opening
in 2012.
The
movie has grossed over £51 million from its openings in the
Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark, ahead of its launch in
the U.S. on Friday.
But
Daniel, accompanied by co-stars Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux and
Christoph Waltz couldn't even fake a smile as they posed for a
photograph together at the US promotional event this week.
The group stood awkwardly, looking more like strangers waiting at a bus stop than Hollywood stars on the promo tour.
Quietly confident: Producers Barbara Broccoli, right, and Michael G. Wilson have confirmed their faith in Daniel's return
Craig, in particular, looked like he'd rather be elsewhere. In the manner of an angry schoolboy, he slumped against the wall.
His negativity towards the role of late has been consistently hitting headlines, particularly when he told an interviewer from Time Out he'd 'rather break this glass and slit my wrists' than return to the franchise.
And when asked by Esquire if he'd even consider making a fifth Bond movie he added: 'I don’t know. I really don’t know.
'Honestly. I’m not trying to be coy. At the moment I can’t even conceive it.'
Asked if he wanted to return he said: 'At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.'

Fan favourite: The actor's latest film has made £41.3million in its opening weekend in the UK
Craig
later stated that he'll keep going as long as he's 'physically able.'
The 47-year-old actor injured his knee while shooting Spectre.
Director Sam Mendes has also quit the franchise. He achieved huge success with Skyfall in 2012.
Similarly, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli hasn't lost hope that Craig will return to the franchise.
'We had an eight-month shoot and he was tired,' Broccoli said of Craig's recent comments.
'I
think we all feel at the end of a movie that the thought of doing
another one right away is always a little bit too much to contemplate.
It's like childbirth.
'You don't ask a woman who's just given birth, 'oh when are you going to do it again?"'
And, of course, there is the small matter of the huge pay packet on offer were Craig to return as Bond.
