To some it is a feat of derring-do Bond himself would be proud of, to others merely an annoying prank. But internet chancer James Ware has become the centre of online attention after releasing a video that purports to show him gatecrashing the year's most exclusive film premiere.
In the video, Ware, an Oxford graduate who is now a presenter on Wandsworth Radio, can be seen apparently smuggling himself and friend Zander Whitehurst in to the formal unveiling of James Bond's new outing SPECTRE at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening.
After apparently finding a photograph of a real ticket – worth £200 –
posted by a lucky invitee on Instagram, Ware claims to have mocked up
his own version on editing software,
making sure to include the same barcode. He says he then printed his
imitation on official-looking card, dressed the part, booked a premium
Uber and walked in, taking the place of the unsuspecting Instagrammer.
The whole event and build up was filmed by Whitehurst and posted on
YouTube. The video has since gone viral, attracting over 350,000 views
in the space of 24 hours. However, the veracity of the stunt has been
called into question after it was revealed that Ware's name was on the
official guestlist, and one of the jobs listed on his LinkedIn page is creative director of viral video agency One Time Twice.
In the video, Ware can be seen on the red carpet asking a bemused Sam
Smith how it's going (he never does find out) before shaking the hand of
DJ Chris Evans and wishing him "best of luck with Top Gear, man." He
also speaks to Naomie Harris, who plays Miss Moneypenny in the film.

I can't believe we've got this far," a grinning Ware tells the camera outside the venue. Once inside he describes the situation as "insane", and says he "couldn't have better seats in my local Cineworld."
Afterwards, not content with simply attending the premiere, Ware and Whitehurst push their luck further by sneaking in to the film's official after party at the British Museum. For this they claim to have fashioned wristbands out of torn programmes and glued them together with chewing gum.
"It was insane – they’d rented out the whole British Museum and it was all inclusive Bollinger champagne, martinis and Heinekens, you name it," he told the Lad Bible afterwards.
"There was a really classy area in the central library section – to be honest the party was dominated by an older crowd but there were some people hitting it hard and the scale of the thing was just off the chart."
Ware at the conspicuously empty-looking afterparty While a few viewers of the video – which has been watched more than 250,000 times in 24 hours and follows several previous 'hack' attempts – approved of Ware's impish antics ("top kek m8," one observed), some questioned both the moral and legal implications of his ploy.
"Could this guy get in a lot of s**t for this? If it's legit then he's basically showing evidence of him stealing a ticket and trespassing at an important event," asked one critic. Others expressed sympathy for the original ticket holder, who might have been turned away by security.
Many users on Reddit were suspicious of Ware entirely, however, and pointed out that without showing his editing of the Instagram post or any footage of security at the after party, the whole 'con' could be nothing more than a self-promotional tool for a man with a video agency to plug.
Their suspicion has since been confirmed by a statement from the Royal Albert Hall. “The Spectre premiere was an incredible event, and for anyone who has seen the video of James Ware attending, we are happy to confirm that he was actually an official premiere guest," said a spokesperson.
"Our database shows that James bought his tickets from the box office prior to the event. So for anyone concerned by the video, we’re happy to confirm that no criminal act took place.”
